The main reason for the foundation of the folk dancing group in 1977 was the sustainment and support of folk dances.
Peter Nöhrer who has been the chairman of the folk dancing group of Stainz since its foundation leads our association which currently counts approximately 65 members.
The mission of our group is not only restricted to dancing - we also strive towards the cultivation of ancient customs and are anxious to pass these customs on to the public. Moreover we plead for the tourism as with every travel we advertise for Stainz and the surrounding region. It is always a pleasure for the members of our group to get to know and to visit domestic as well as foreign groups.
All traditional costumes (called "Trachten" respectively "Dirndln") are financed by the members themselves.
We are particularly proud of our common room which has been renovated by some group members. The common room is situated in the oldest bourgeois house of Stainz.
The folk dancing group of Stainz has become an essential element for many events of the community of Stainz and organises two major events itself: the Styrian Evening (a meeting of different singing and dancing groups as well as musicians) taking place every year on the first Saturday after easter and the "Trachtenball" every year on the first Saturday after the All Saints' Day.
